Gamesday Sorcerer
« on: 04 August 2010, 12:25:54 AM »
Well as the title says I am painting up the Games Workshop gamesday sorcerer, and I will be entering him into the warhammer fantasy battle single mini catergory.

So far so good I think, skin is done. Picture is poorly lit. I have gone with a very pink skin as a middle ground blending down to red on the mutations on his lower body and blending up to white on the horns, but making sure it is continuous giving him a living vessel of chaos feel, I hope, I like it anyway.  This is him so far

I will get a better picture tomorrow when i have more time, didn't have chance after krav maga tonight

That looks fantastic, though is the contrast strong enough from shade to highlight? It looks a little flat in the pictures thats all.

Learnt a new way to break a frontal choke involving inserting fingers into the eye socket and twisting the subject's head, pasta would have been nice though

@ Dijit

@ Steve

Thanks mate, will be my 2nd ever time of entering hopefully i can go one better than last year when i managed to get to the last round of judging in the WFB monster catergory.

Better picture as promised

amasing what proper lighting does!

Think I will do a little work on the "sore" area around the handeye after kettlebells and then I will begin work on the robes

It certainly is a strange looking model.  One thing I've heard about the Golden Daemons is you do better with in print models.  Me I seem to always be stuck in the past.  I'm always painting OOP models because I'm so slow, they were new when I bought them...

Not sure if using a rare model will affect your chances negatively...

Good luck!

Well, win or lose, you're going to have a fantastic looking miniature.

I really like that sculpt, and the paintjob is amazing.

I like the base... looks a lot like a paint pot. How did you create it?

 ;D

Sorry... I think you've done a very nice job so far. Really like how the eye in the hand turned out and the sickly skin. Just one thing - the shadowing could be a bit browner in places, to darken it a bit and add contrast. Nit picking, but seeing how you're entering it in a competition I think it's warranted. =)

Really like the colour you've picked for the robes!

@ Duncan

Told you the picture was pants, but you shouldnt think like that, I have only been painting a little over 2 years and I just push my boundaries everytime I paint trying out new things and with that you improve.  If I can do it you can do it Duncan

@ supervike

Thanks, the model sculpt has gotten mixed reviews, I initially didn't like it but I have two of them (a mate who hated it gave me his) but once I took it out of the packet prepped it and started to paint it I love it, hopefully the end result will be good enough.

@ phreedh

yeah the base is my take at a disc of tzeentch :P I am thinking of adding some shadows in the form of a mix of ogryn flesh wash and a squid pink glaze, in areas such as the armpits and under the biceps as I dont think that the purple I use at the moment gives a good enough shadow
