Interwar Vehicles Wishlist?
« on: August 18, 2010, 05:00:18 PM »
Hey folks,

I know this is generally a way to open up a huge can of worms, but in a recent chat with Craig over at Gaming Models ( gamodls.com ) I brought this subject up and he seemed open to input. So, here I am, asking what vehicles people like, would like, or think are needed for the period in 15mm.

Tanks, half-tacks, armored cars, trucks, etc. Anything that is a vehicle is fair game.

Thanks,
-Eli

I would like to see a model of a T2 or T2E1 American Medium Tank.

American Combat Cars  There is one that has four wheels on each side  I think it is the T1 combat car.

Just as a suggestion, if you can find pics of these vehicles post them, as vehicle designations and titles were a bit fluid in this period. It also makes the thread more attractive.  ;)

I'm going to second Dondi63's suggestion for the T2 or T2E1 Medium Tank.  In addition to that I'd also love to see the T4, T4E1 Medium Tank.

More bikes in general: Rudges, Indians, Isle of Man TT specials, early Beemers.

1) Mk II Light tank, India pattern.

I started converting one from a 1/48 Tamiya Universal carrier a few years back but then decided 1/48 was a bit big.

2) Soviet T-18/ MS-1 tank

Why these two in particular? Because, unlike many of the interwar vehicles being produced by various makers, these actually saw active service. The MkII was used extensively in India in 1935 and in 1937-38, some soldiered on to see service in the Western Desert in 1940. The T-18 fought against the Chinese during a major border dispute in 1929 where a company(-) was engaged in the taking of a railway station in Manchuria:

They also soldiered on until the Second world War, many being encountered by the Germans during Barbarossa as static pillboxes.

My third choice would be either the T1 or T2 medium tank. They are wonderfully clunky and the latter in it's final iteration was actually greenlighted for production and received an 'M' or service designator, alas it was cancelled on financial grounds. These would be useful for those ACW 3 games that seem so popular these days and would be nice for those of us interested in fighting Plan Red.

My fourth choice would be the one man Martel tanks, some of which did see limited service in troop trials, they are just so wonderfully heath Robinson I'm amazed nobody has produced one to date.

I could really go for a few Russian T-24's. They just look so damned cool.
