Under The Black Flag - Rescue the messenger
« on: August 28, 2010, 06:21:33 PM »
My Son (Joe) and I decided to have a quick minis game this weekend. We used Gloire/UTBF system and adapted the scenario "The Waylaid Messenger" from the Gloire book to a more Pirate feel.

We used some pre-generated characters from UTBF, each having a Grade 3 and a Grade 2 character.

Joe played Squire Richardson and his man, Pete -

And I had a couple of old sea dogs, Capt. Zac London and Jeb Crane -

We used the same basic layout for the board as the book but replaced the hill with a heavily wooded area.

After looking around in the undergrowth for a couple of rounds the old sea dog managed to find something useful and carefully read it; luck was on their side and Capt Zac realised what it was and tucked away in his jacket for safe keeping.

Meanwhile, the Squire located the messenger  and then proceeded to find more crucial paperwork. Leaving his man to find the rest, the Squire swiftly made for home gaining 3 vital victory points.

I could see which way this was going when Jeb Crane located a couple of ruffians, who managed to give him a bloody nose and a black eye before Capt. Zac stepped into finish them off; this encounter was quickly followed by Jeb managing to find the Bandit Chief who promptly made mince meat of him. The Squire's Man, Pete, found the last piece of documentation and made for the board edge and secured victory for Joe, leaving my old sea dogs in a very bad way.

We both enjoyed the game and we are looking forward to playing Arkham Horror this weekend aswell.

I go to pieces so fast that people get hit by the shrapnel.
