Battlecars

I played this game loads back in the 80's and picked up a second hand copy on ebay a while back for nostalgic reasons.

As a result I've been planning to convert the board game into a miniatures version, either using Hot Wheels and 15mm figures or, as I've recently decided, in 28mm using Future Wars figures and converted die cast cars in 1/43rd or thereabouts.

What I'm looking for now are ideas and tips for converting Maisto, Matchbox, Welly and Corgi cars into Mad Max style post apocalyptic armoured racing machines. I've stockpiled some old Dark Future weapons sprues, which actually look good for 28mm despite being 20mm in scale, and have got hold of a couple of suitable cars from my sons (they haven't noticed yet ).

Any suggestions about how to go about this project would be very welcome.

The Apocalypse first devastates all glass and paintwork, so cars would need wire mesh or armoured windows and a rusty finish.

Overlord. I always wondered who was responsible for the Road Warrior figures and vehicles. Very nice indeed.  That used to be one of my favourite films from the early 80's and I have always had a soft spot for miniatures suitbable for gaming it. I am midway through building a post apocalypse project and I found your stuff very inspiring

This is very much an on-going long-term project for me.  All the initial bits were done so that I could play out the tanker chase from the film.  My intentions are to add a load of vehicles and bikes and create an entire compound, then Bartertown, then.....

Its the reason I had a go at sculpting.  Initially to convert some figure to look more Mad Max-esque.  After I sculpted the prisoner for the front of one car I moved on to other figures.  Still early days but I intend doing alot more.  If only I had more time  :cry:


Finally the Feral Kid.  Converted from the boy in the Copplestone Cavemen pack.

Great stuff Overlord. I like the Feral Kid too  I think I recognice some Dark Future road sections in there as well. Thats a bit of nostalgia.  What rules are you using for these, Combat Zone or some others?

Well spotted    .   Those are indeed Dark Future road sections.  Until I build some proper ones they are filling in.  Although designed for 20mm they are fine with larger figures/vehicles.

The rules are an amended version of the Combatzone vehicle rules.

Well spotted again.  Some minor modifications to them such as adding a crossbow pistol etc.
