Maschinen Krieger...
« on: August 05, 2007, 08:29:37 PM »
Hi again,

The model shown is a 1/35 scale “Melusine” Panzer Kampf Anzug Ausf M.
The other 2 models are from West Winds Mechagrenadier range. Shown for scale reference.

IMO the Maschinen Krieger 1/35 kits are good fitting to 28 mm miniatures. The design is reasonable bulky and retro tech looking and it is big enough to justify a pilot sitting in the highly armoured torso. Plus - the inside weapon mounting, the weapon can be everything you like in your Pulp style WW2 games!

cheers and keep on gaming, Agis - https://www.adpublishing.de

Excellent work! Do you have a German supplier for the 1/35th scale kits or did you order directly from Japan?

Ah, don´t worry - just in case you had a source ready. I´ll just wait for opportunities, although I have to say that I´m currently favouring a more "Early/Midwar-style" for my alt-ww2 stuff. You know, more Me-109e than Me-262, so to speak.

Great stuff , as ever, Agis.

I know you're going to hate me for this, but I would have painted the edge of the bases white aswell.  (Mind you, mine wouldn't look anywhere near as good as this regardless of what I did to the base!)

Very nice, and as always inspiring :) I quite like the way this stuff is done, and it makes me want to get back to my weird war stuff!

excellent stuff - a non-Transformers stylee WW II walker at last.  Great paint too...
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

I have thought about that too. Maybe not white, but a light grey.
However, I started black soI would have to do a lot of re-painting here...

I agree a light grey (or a bluish-grey) would look great for the sides of the base....but the black still works, and doesn't distract fro the overall quality of the mini....which is fantastic by the way.

Seriously well done.

I´m a strong advocate of using black rims with slottabases (of any design). Any other colour looks too "plasticky", whereas the black leaves a more "distinguished" impression.

And given the fact that slottabases will never really "blend into" the table surface, I think it´s better to distinguish the figures as playing pieces from the start.

Long story short, I like it, don´t change it!

Contrary to my earlier post I would generally agree.  I just think that sometimes they do look better.  In this case if the sides of the base were the same colour scheme as the rest (not white as I rather crudely put it before) it would be more effective on the snow baseboard in the photo.

My Mad Max figures are on slotta bases but I painted the whole base in the ground colour to match my baseboards.

I'm not convinced a black edge would look better, infact it would probably appear more "plasticky"

In both the above cases I think it is better matching the ground they are on.  Conversely, they would proably look a little out of place on another surface, when the black rim might suit better.
