Anthropomorphic animals in 28/25mm?
« on: 18 September 2010, 02:58:37 PM »
So I have this soft spot for monsters/fantasy races that comprise of half human half animal creatures.
Problem is, I have trouble finding much in that area outside of were-animals, gnolls, beastmen, and hulking monsters with teeth and claws the size of your head.
Let's dedicate this thread to all the fine civilized furry folk and the figures therein that we know of, so that it may be used as a resource for others in need of such a genre.
Let's keep it mostly mammalian though.
We can have a thread for reptile people if the need and want is great enough.

I know reaper has at their disposal a faction of rather savage looking lycanthropes, called Koborlas, which I'm fairly certain are bigger than the average human mini.
http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Koborlas
While the female models are dainty and quite nice, I find the males repulsively savage and over the top.

Reaper also manufactures other models that meet the criteria, albeit not very many.

Rackham has an utterly monstrous line of feral lycanthropes called The Wolfen.
I own a few, and I must say that the quality is exquisite (if hideous).

So lets have at it!
Post all that comes to mind on the subject of cultured animal men and women.
No beast men if you please.  :-I
Edit, Nov/7/11I cannot emphasize this enough, figures to be put into this thread MUST have normal human proportions. No beast men, no chaos spawned, no rapant drooling mutants and no fucking mouselings.
Just furries.

Most Rackham figures left me indifferent, but I loved the old metal wolfen figures.

Crocodile Games does a beautiful line of cat people, the Basti.

And Dark Sword has recently done a few smaller critters (mostly mammals).  My favorite:

Oddly enough, I was talking to a sculptor just last week about such a project.  I have been wanting to build a game for my daughter, she is 3 this weekend, so a few more years till she can play, but I am a slow painter and terrain builder, so that should be just enough time!  Anyway, I was looking to do something like a medieval theme, woodland critters, clothes, weapons, and all.  I am looking at a skirmish level effort; maybe 50 figures in the line, maybe as much as 100, will have to see if anyone buys them first.  I open to any ideas anyone might have.  I was thinking something like squirrels and mice as the main good guys, and weasels, raccoons, foxes, and so on as the villains.  I want to add in some of everything else too, skunks, possums, moles, badgers, and so on...

What scale? Would be nice if they were compatible with the oop Iron Claw range, but those were more around 25mm.

Sounds like Song of Splintered Lands might be up your alley, a Ganesha game accompanied by a range from Splintered Light. LAF fellow grubman did a review here.

Ah!
There!
I've heard the name Iron Claw whispered in the back alleys of Google searches for a little while now.
What exactly was Iron Claw?
More specifically, is there a showcase of it's OOP figures?

It was an RPG setting for which a small range of very nice true 25mm antropomorphic minis were sculpted. I have a couple, though not all of them. :'(

I have these foxes:

While not mammals, I think you need to give consideration to Eureka's warrior frogs and terrapins:

For more traditional/classic human/animal combinations, Eureka also has centaurs and satyrs (I hope you don't consider them to be 'beast-men', but I guess that comes down to how you define the term!)

Eureka also has winged, fezzed monkeys (and who DOESN'T need those!) as well as boiler-suit apes.

They're sculpted for Fantasy Football, but I have a real soft spot for these Siringit from Impact! Miniatures:
