Afghan Compounds, all finished 10/10/10
« on: September 18, 2010, 07:21:01 PM »
I spent today slaving away over hot cork and came up with this:

The first of four Afghan compounds I hope to have ready for my BLAM game.

These aren't strictly accurate, I want them to be Iraqi and African compounds too so I've strayed from reality and varied the building heights for some interest. The 'thatch' on the stable will lie flatter once it's been soaked in pva to make it solid of course and there'll be a central support added to.

A full tutorial will be up tomorrow on my site. There was a film too until Sylvester decided to join in and I shouted at him. Shouting at a cat isn't the image I wish to portray so I scrapped that idea :)

There may still be a video for one of the later ones, they won't be so stressful to make I hope so I can be a little more laid back about interruptions. Stay tuned

Thank you :)

Here's the link to the tutorial, no words yet and not live on my site either so no sharing with friends, this is a LAF special offer :D

Lots more photos though so may still be of interest.

Hi, Paul

Thanks for letting us in on the WIP!  Most of the buildings I saw in Afghanistan were made of poor quality brick, covered with a mud plaster.  There were not many clean right angles, so consider chipping or smoothing/rounding the tops and corners of walls.

Nice'un Paul! If you want to part with it once you are done with BLAM, give me a jingle.  :)

Lovely work and the fact that it all sits on a base the size of CD is truly impressive.  :D

I'll be running my game all through Saturday, should get 3-4 run-throughs with 2-4 players a time. 4 players will need to be two teams of two but it worked ok for last year's mercenaries bash.

2nd compound:

The first is painted, photos as soon as the basework's dried and finished (hopefully tomorrow) and the third is having it's walls cut tomorrow.
