my first outlaw
« on: September 25, 2010, 06:32:09 AM »
I finished off one of my figures today:

It is one of the Black Scorpion Tombstone figures.

I know it isn't a great paint job, but I am happy I was able to paint something  ;D

That's all that is important!

Slapping paint on minis... experience will take care of the rest.

Nice job!

At least it's painted!
It takes me months to paint anything.
A brown ink wash would finish that nicely...
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

i think the same: you have painted the base coats nicely, now you just have to add highlights or shades, or simply washes. those are more easy to do (at least the basic version), with nice results!

that's a good start! :)

Paint on figures, that's what we want.  As others have said, a wash and some sand on the base- job done.

Couldn't agree more, but if you haven't tried "Army Painter" Sheerluck, I strongly recommend it.

It will improve your finish ten fold.

You have the basics down ! clean lines, no sloppy cross overs, and a good color palate.
i can see the highlights on the arm of his coat pretty clearly, and they look good !
i would sugest a watered down GW devlin mud wash on his coat and hat, as for his shirt white is a tricky color to do, i usually start with a light khaki color, and highlight to a bone white.
but for starters, i would pick up a small tub of sand, and atleast finish his base off.
Paint on figures = good
the more you paint, the better you get, and you are already pretty good !

Very neatly painted. Just highlight the folds in clothes and edges.
