Barbarossa miniatures?
« on: 01 October 2010, 11:55:09 AM »
I just got some inspiration by watching a trailer for "Barbarossa and the towers of Italy"

to make a wargames setting around one of those towers would be fun. Another avenue would be the Barbarossa brothers vs Spanish in North Africa  early 16th century (finally get some use for all those conquistador miniatures laying around...).

I know of the Redoubt range but can anyone recommend other 28mm miniatures representing the Barbarossa corsairs?

I would say eureka miniatures. Try the turkish pirates in the bottom of this link:

example, Eureka Turkish captain:

And also, black cat bases "ethnic crew" range:

Another suggestion might be foundry, they have some barbary pirates in thei pirate range packs but no blister containing only barbary corsaires, unfortunatelly. It might be a pricey option.

Example:

I hope it helps!

Hi,
I also used the Eureka Turkish Pirates as basic for my corsairs, but I wanted to give them a little "Arabian Nights" touch and added some other models which I guess fit finde.
The fat man in the middle is a GW Mercenary, the second from the right is the Mordheim Arabian Merchant and the second from the left is from Reaper Miniatures.

That is a really nice crew, superb choice of miniatures Brakan!

I can't find that Arabian Merchant in the Mordheim range. Are you sure it is a GW mini?

Thanks, elhion.
I am sure the Arabian Merchant is a GW Mordheim miniature. It was released about the time of Marianna Chevaux, but the Merchant is OOP for a while. It might be released in the Fanatic Miniatures range rather than the basic Citadel range.
