Godd news for USMC players

Just got my warlord newsletter...

and it seems a new range of USMC figures will land in a beach near us very soon.  

Yes I have a full platoon but thise looks very good.

Yeah just saw the Newsletter; I'm shocked...I had no idea they had Pacific figs in the works! Japanese and Chindits too which is great as this is really an ignored Theatre.

@Shadow...these new figs look like plastics to me (I could be wrong) and with the separate heads as well. Unfortunately some of the poses are very strange (not a fan of the squatting to fire pose myself).

It's nice to see this theatre getting more attention and I think they are plastic which should help lower the cost when collecting. Wish the paint jobs would have been done with more care so we could judge the miniatures a bit better.

sorry to spoil you, but from the poses and animation I would say the one previewed are metal.

Has the Bolt Action range changed sculptor?

They don't look like quite the same style as usual stuff.

I do like that chap with the shotgun, he looks like he's just spotted someone hiding down in the undergrowth.

They look like metal and most seem to have dodgy anatomy and or faces. 
They don't seem up to the standard of BAM's other ranges or the fine USMC figures made by TAG and Brigade Games.

As far as I remember, Paul Hicks did most of the Bolt Action range, and the Brigade Pacific range, strange that Warlord didn't just import that range as it would fit perfectly with their existing collection.

I like the new range, both the shotgun armed figures and the BAR gunner are pretty good. And the painting while not being at the top level is still good, much better of paintjobs sported by other companies, anyway it is more than adequate to show what normal people can obtain (not a fan of super duper painters, I will never paint at their level, I prefer to see what the mini will look on normal hands).

But bad news for anyone who already has the Brigade Games range, all done by Paul Hicks, and very comprehensive, who was hoping for something else. I think it's a bad business decision. Pac War is a niche theater and it's already been done very well, and extensively, by other companies including TAG and Brigade Games. I wish they had done North Africa instead.

Artizan already cover North Africa and I seem to remember comments on the mailing list years ago that the DAK sold well but the Commonwealth troops not so well.  When they asked who all those DAK were fighting, as no one was picking up the Allies, everyone answered "Indy".

I'm not knocking them for it, certainly beats 'yet another' range of late WW2 Germans or US Paras. I think following the run of The Pacific there was bound to be at least one new range of Pac-War figures coming out and here it is. Not my cup of tea, but hey.

while I love north africa and the associated minis, to be quite h onest I decided there is no point for me doing it in 28mm. Yest the figures are great, the vehicles available too...

but the point is that 15mm, 10mm and 6mm are much more adapted (and people will chime with 20mm too). North Afrika tend to be tank intensive and open warfare. Of course there is Tunisia... but while I like it and I can use my middle east town for a nice tunisian village the point is that the well known battle are all in libya/egypt.

Ok you could use the LRDG and saharian companies raids for scenarios... but again if you get the bug you want to expand... sadly for Artizan and Chieftain I never mustered enought determination and money to move to such a prject despite the awesome table on tunisia made by the Chemins de Feu at salute in 2008.

Pacific... you can do it smaller... fewer tanks and... you got the chindits, the XIV army and a lot of other stuff.

and I do not know why it is a bad news for people who already have pacific minis... I have several Brigade, they are nice, but this will not stop me!
