Dont you have some Darkest Africa personalities somewhere hidden in your Lead pile  ?
The British officers will do great.
Foundry also has a nice Pathan blister with a leader raising his right fist in the air while holding his sword low in its left.

Else order the command pack from OG

Nope, just starting out, so no leadpile to scrounge from. I may rustle up a couple of Orcs and a knight from the 80`s but thats about it. :)

Nope, they'll never do.  ;)

I'd second Driscole's suggestion with some Foundry Brits.

There's a couple of nice guys here:

This is whats held up in customs for the moment:

# CNB-04 Ghurka Infantry Skirmishing with Command (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNB-04]
# CNP-07 Wounded Pathan Tribesmen (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNP-07]
# CNP-05 Pathan Tribesmen Mounted on Ponies (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNP-05]
# CNP-03 Pathan Tribesmen with Rifles (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNP-03]
# CNB-10 Wounded Indian Troops (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNB-10]
# CNB-12 Sikh Infantry Advancing with Command (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNB-12]
# CNB-07 Indian Mountain Gunners (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNB-07]
# CNB-08 Indian Mountain Gunners with Crew (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNB-08]
# CNB-05 Bengal Lancers (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNB-05]
# CNB-03 Indian Infantry Advancing (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNB-03]
# CNG-01 7 pounder Mountain Gun (Quantity: 2) [Product ID = CNG-01]
# CNP-04 Pathan Tribesmen Charging with Swords (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNP-04]
# CBB-03 Infantry Advancing (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CBB-03]
# CBB-02 Infantry Skirmishing (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CBB-02]
# CNB-02 Indian Infantry Skirmishing (Quantity: 1) [Product ID = CNB-02]

And I scored some Pathan horsemen and civilians on E-bay, as well as a Vallejo compilation of Brit Khaki paints. In a local shop, I got a big box of gesso and a brush for applying it - scored a couple of full pinkfoam from a friend in the foam business and all the cut-off I can handle. Tracked down the Norwegian word and source for foamboard, which, btw happens to be arkitektpapp.

Need to source a Napoleonic heavy piece for the Pathan forces - cant have a tribal stronghold without a piece of artillery and a couple of heroes. :)

Couple of cans of primer, one black and one brownish found in the basement, as well as some other tools and thisandthats. I plan to make my own experiences with black/white and brown primer (the brown just because I had it and I havent seen anyone writing about that). Now its just waiting for some serious amounts of work.

Cant say I`ll plan to paint the entire lot this year (or the next) but getting a couple of skirmishing sets together should be doable.  :)

Any obvious oversights in this ?

I strongly suggest not to use the primer cans on foambord as the solvant propller can melt your board !
A question : Is your gesso black or white ? If black, you can brush it on your minis without problems, if white it will be more arduous.
