New Reaper Not-Shadow
« on: 04 November 2010, 08:32:31 PM »
Just saw this on the Reaper preview page

http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/previews/latest/50217

I know some of the Chronoscape range have size issues - but for a skirmish game it's not too much of a problem!

Besides, I like it and you can't hace too many 'Shadows'

Yeah I saw that & it looks great, too bad Reaper scale is all over the damn place.
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Scale be damned, it looks fantastic to me.

Yeah... but based on past Reaper minis it won't be  :D. Chronoscope minis scale up great with each other, just not much else... like Pulp Figures, Artizan, Foundry, Etc...

A few of them are on the smaller side.  The first time Chaser was in the 28mm range, and their Doc Savage clone is around the same scale.  Having a large Shadow figure going head to head with smaller crooks wouldn't be thematically incorrect.  He isn't any bigger than them, he just looks it.  ;)

If the silver triangles on the right on the pic are 10mm then it looks to be 30mm + base, but I seem to remember the shadow growing in size as the darkness took him(?)

Each triangle (Known on the Reaper boards as "Bryangles" because it was the Reaper employee Bryan who spearheaded the effort to update the pics with them) are 1/2".  It looks like a great deal of height is added by the base, here.

Agreed. Creative basing has helped, and again, they're worth it.

(And that is the best not-Shadow I've seen, so, yes.)

I've mixed Chronscape and other figures together (most notably the Ned Lewinsky model with Artizans Sons of the Desert) and for skirmish games where models spend a lot of their time shooting at each other from across the board a few mm here and there isn't that noticable or important!

After all not everybody in real life is 6' tall! (well thats my reasoning)

Now if I was ranking up Reaper Colonial Reiflemen and some Empress Zulu War Brit's on the same base then I'd have issues!

And to quote myself (ego the size of a planet!  lol) 'I like it!'
