How easy do the heads go on to the bodies?

Seperate head systems I've tried before (both lead & plastic) usual end looking as if they have either no neck or have giraffe genes in their DNA!

I agree. It would be the infantry packs that I would be buying.

Also, any chance of getting some packs with Mausers etc for the later stages of the First Boer War (pretty please)?

Call it a Martini-Enfield and you`re on semi safe ground, as long as the main force gets Mausers. But a couple of them should be armed with Krag-Jorgensen Rifles, that whould have been extremly nice... ;-)

I really, really like the Empress horses but I have not yet had the chance to paint one.

I signed up here just to say that I am really pleased about this range!  I have just given my wife my "christmas list" which consists entirely of zulu war British from Empress.  The aim was to order the wonderful Boers from Black Tree to fight them, once I could pluck up the courage to risk sending the money to them.

However, these look just as good and are from a reputable company!

I echo what has already been said, Infantry packs please.  I would have all my commando's dismounted, with just a few mounted figures for moving them once deployed or raid scenario's.  If they are all dual packs I would not purchase as I need 50+ foot figures but I do not need 50+ mounted ones....

These Boers are of course designed with the AZW very much in mind. However they obviously cover the 1st Boer war and to a lesser degree the start of the second before the weapons supply enabled better quality weapons to become available.

Because of the AZW connection we did them as mounted dismounted as we were thinking of actions such Hlobane.

However on reflection and following your comments we can also sell the dismounted version in a seperate pack as well. We could even do some more heads to maximise the variation. We will review this as soon as we can. (tankers and turning circles permitting.    )

Please note that we will cover off the 1st Boer War when we have the AZW completed as there is little to add between the conflicts that was unique. Highlanders in kilts spring to mind

Very nice. Also useful for Portuguese settlers/Irregulars and "Cape Dutch" in southern Angola.
