28mm Soviet artillery, cars and trucks
« on: November 15, 2010, 09:07:28 PM »
I am building a 28mm Soviet force. So far I have some infantry and I am looking for some vehicles. There are a few companies that make tanks – which is great, but I have not found many making Soviet artillery, cars and trucks. Bolt Action make 2 artillery pieces, Gaz staff car and an armoured car, but I have not found any other companies. I have found no Soviet trucks at all.

Does anyone know of any reliable companies making 28mm (1/56) Soviet artillery, cars or trucks?

Thanks,
Paul

I'll second the Force of Arms idea...two Gaz trucks and a couple of tanks. Co B has some nice Soviet tanks, Army Group North, and Bolt Action/Warlord as already noted. Black Tree has some tanks as well but I won't comment on them after trying to put together one of their anti-tank guns. So overall I think they are pretty well covered.

T-60's, t-70's, and Early War Soviet Motorcycle troops would be a nice addition to any range...

Don't forget JTFM.

Great vehicles and service from Jeff above. Yes I'm plugging! :-)

@Scott, JTFM does have a T 70. I should know I've one I'm working on for selling.

Force of Arms (FOA) as already indicated have the lovely GAZ AA and AAA.

Don't forget you can use Foreign trucks to supplement your force. See link below:

Yes how could I forget...another Canadian Company. I've seen that and will likely pick some up at some point for my EW Reds.

Siberia Miniatures is working on some really great looking EW Soviet Infantry with separate heads (choice of helmet, pilotka, or peaked cap - good for NKVD or Border Guard units!).

Thanks everyone.

I will be ordering a T34/85 and a T34/76 turrent from JTFM (and maybe a JS2 or T70). I will probably get an artillery piece and the Gaz car from Bolt Action. For trucks (really all vehicles), I want to try a keep to strictly Soviet issue. Because I only intend to buy 2 or 3 tanks, 1 car, 2 artillery pieces and maybe 4 trucks - I don't want to dilute with foreign vehicles. (I not sure why, but Soviet trucks really fire up my juices - they are just cool - weird I know  ;D )

There is only a handful of photos of vehicles on the FOA site. Are there any images of their stuff on the web?

Helen, http://www.o5m6.de/ is a great site. Thanks.

I look forward to any more suggestions.
Regards,
Paul.

Hi,  I built the masters for JTFM's T70, SU76, T34 and M3 Scout Car.  I would certainly recommend these vehicles for your collection... I also like the FOA GAZ AA and AAA trucks - they are a tiny bit under 1:56 scale,  but still work great with BAM figs.  Also buy a Dodge power wagon from Company B to tow your 76MM ZIS-3 AT gun.  John

BA are all great models as well. FYI they temporarily pulled some of their vehicles due to production issues. They are hoping to have them back ASAP. I'd email or post on the forum BEFORE you order until they get things shaked out.

Don't have any first hand knowledge of FOA, but I HEAR they make great models as well.

Add Westwind and S&S to the list.

Now, if you want really nice trucks. Look out for the Lledo/ Matchbox Days Gone by Ford AA.  The GAZ AA was an exact copy. The diecast ones are perfect and you can usually pick them up for peanuts.

I do a nice range in diecast SU-100's as finished items to your specification. I have a few of these in at present if interested.

Pic above is one I did for a guy in the states.

Thanks guys.

S&S look interesting.

@Bruce: Cool looking SU 100. Do you have a web site or more info?

Paul.

p.s I have just order this from Bolt Action: 76mm ATG, Gaz jeep, BA64, command group, 2x HMG, mortar. Bolt Action postage is free this month, so I could not resist. I spoke to the guys at my club today and one said he is starting a French force. Hopefully more will join in.

If you don't find anything suitable in 1/56, you may take a look at 1/48

UM Modells ( http://um-models.com/ ) produces a modell of a ZIS 5 and a ZIS 5 with AA MG.

There is also a GAZ Jeep by Tamiya in 1/48
