Elves to match Perry?

Like many, I have become interested in Retro-clone gaming, in this case cloning D&D rules from before I was born!

Naturally, games must have miniatures, and since I think of retro gaming as gritty dark ages fantasy, I looked around for mail clad warriors and decided on Perry first crusade figures for humans. Civilians, armored, unarmored, priests, sorted and done.  Dwarves I think will be from Hasslefree.

The question is who makes elves which would match?

Said elves could either be smaller than human sized as per D&D, or the same sized, but they should be of similar heft, and ideally in mail, and not plate.

The (A)D&D-Elves Citadel did all those moons ago are a wee bit smaller than humans.
But you only have one warrior mage from the D&D Starter Set (and a half elf)

Their Drow followed the size of their normal Dark Elves.

Otherworld Miniatures is going to release an Elf Zombie and they are planning Drow for 2011.
If we could put some pressure upon Mr. Scott he might finally start working on an Adventurer Starter Set.

Vendel (well used to be called Vendel) does Dark Age Elves, as well as dwarves, orcs, etc. Little heftier than Perry, but might work.

Thunderbolt mountain elves are quite slender?

Better yet, what about GW LOTR Elves? They are SCULPTED by the Perrys.

Ral Partha Fantasy Armies "regular elves" might fit the bill:











Obviously not entirely mail-clad, but different enough from humans to be noticeable, I think.

I believe that Iron Wind Metals only has a smattering of those elf figures (one or two character figures). If you want the various regimental figures, you will need to get them from Ral Partha Europe (or on eBay).

They are excellent figures (sculpted by Chris Fitzpatrick before his tenure at GW), although I personally prefer the irregular figures (more lightly armored, but heaps more character and more natural poses). They should be a good scale match for you as they are a bit small compared to a lot of current-release figures.

If you are looking for AD&D character figures, then the various packs of Sergeants are probably your best bet, as they have a nice variety of poses and armament options. (Shown in the second row of pictures from the bottom in Jolly Bob's post).

I knew this was the right forum wherein to ask this question. 

The RalPartha elves look interesting, although I am not sure about those high collars. 

Does anyone have the Thunderbolt mountain elves?    With their proportions being more realistic even than Perry figures, I wonder if they would fit in, or look odd. They certainly are lovely, and not expensive either.

The high collars are indeed the one rather odd feature of the Fitzpatrick Ral Partha sculpts.

As regards Thunderbolt Mountain, they are beautiful, well-detailed sculpts and very slender, but they come in a bit tall and so may be disqualified by your height requirements. I got rid of all my Thunderbolt Mountain figures a while back so I can't post a comparison photo, but I'm sure that somebody on the forum must have some...
