I rather like the figures - bundles of character. Not so keen on the horses to be honest, especially Gustavas Adolphus' mount, which only vaguely resembles a horse at the front end. Supremely ambitious pose and concept, but I fear the sculptor hasn't quite pulled it off in the execution...  :?

Yes, the first one looks rather like a raptor, but as you said, top marks for trying a differnet pose  8)

I like the jowls and bags on Wallenstein  :)

Gustavus' horse definitely looks odd : the head angle seems wrong in relation to the neck. The Wallenstein figure is much better IMHO. There's a side view of him on the Warlord site and the horse looks okay - although I agree with our good captain that horse anatomy is a perennial problem with the Warlord C17th generals.

It doesn't stop there. There are not many that sculpt good horses. Perrys (which also means GW LotR) and Ebob do.

As an aside, it always seems strange to me when a company credits the painter, but ignores the sculptor.  I never look at a mini and wonder who painted it; rather, my first thought is always "I wonder who sculpted that?"

Agree about Ebob horses, not so sure about the Perrys though, often on the small side it seems to me. Also, they have a limited range of horse poses it seems to me.

Must admit, I do like painting Perry horses, especially the newer stuff. Very 'cleanly drawn'. Although of course it's all a matter of taste.

Gustav will look a bit silly at the head of an army with an out of control horse though  :D

He'll look great at the head of a cavalry charge though.  :)

A bit of trivia: GIIA's horse was named Streiff and a lot of Swedish boys and girls know this because his stuffed remains are on display in in Stockholm (Royal Amroury).

I am not sure that's how I want to spend eternity, starring fixedly at a wall, myself all stuffed with shredded newspaper.

Did a quick search on Google to find a horse with the same head position
could only come up with one.
Horse being unloaded at a dock.  Head appears to be in that position because some men are pulling it.

Saw figures in the flesh at the weekend and the usual problem of them being smaller than there own plastics
I like the idea of something different but I will stick to TAG
