Late WW1 British paint test
« on: 30 November 2010, 08:04:29 AM »
Quick shot of a half-section of Old Glory Late WW1 British hobbits riflemen. Done as a basic colour test, because the British uniform is that frankly hard-to-describe greenish-brownish-greyish colour when you start looking at it in detail.

They need one more round of highlighting on the cloth, then the faces finished up... then I'll probably sell the whole section off to fund other purchases, because Old Glory are too damn short to fit in with my other 28mm figures!

Reaper Master Series Bone Shadow (09058) plus GW Delvan Mud wash for the main uniforms; I used Reaper MS Khaki Shadow for the helmets and puttees. MS Yellow Ivory for the canvas webbing gear. I think the colours look pretty close to most of the Osprey illos and such I've found. Colour selection aided hugely by Reaper's Power Palette - scan and crop Osprey colour illustrations, run the Power Palette, get some idea of what MS colours are at least close.

Better pictures tomorrow in daylight, but colour-wise this one is pretty close to reality. I just remembered how to set a Custom White Balance on my camera, that helps one hell of a lot!
