I agree, wheel 1 looks nicer - 2 is a bit cluttered in the centre with all those screw nuts.

I also prefer 1. IMO,wheel 2 would be fine with the hub from 1 as I like the tread pattern of 2 also.

I am not too keen on either one, really. Why does the pattern extend to the side walls? Is this to give more rigidity or protection against slashing the rubber?

Yes I'm going to be difficult too - the tread from wheel 1 but the hub from 2.

I think it doesn't make sense to have the profile at the side of wheel 1. But the patern running in the middle of wheel 1 is better than wheel 2.
