Very useful stuff, although why Hasslefree are selling it as "limited" I have no idea!
You can of course use guitar string -I do, and have done- but it can be hard to bend and cut neatly if you only need shorter lengths. Also, the thicker (usually base) strings are very hard indeed to cut and work with. The pewter ones are much easier to file, cut, bend and pin.
If any folks don't already know,
Dragon Forge Design (run by a smashing chap called Jeff Wilhelm) sells them in packs of varying sizes as well as a variety pack containing five of each size. I received some these this week, and they are very well cast and easily worth their price.

As an aside, Jeff's bases are also the best-cast I have ever purchased (and I've bought from most of the usual suspects), and are pressure-cast in a smooth, dense, high-quality resin with none of that horrible gritty filler you often see - so what you see on his website is
exactly how they come (but not painted, obviously...). Very highly recommended, and I'm super-fussy about these things!
