Dee's Chaos Army of Intended Mammoth Proportions
« on: December 16, 2010, 10:25:56 PM »
I am in the process of painting up a 1000 point Nurgle Warriors of Chaos army for a double tournement in February.

So far I have the warhounds painted...they are somewhere in this forum (I will put the pictures in with this and have this as a rolling project thread to save loads of little threads.

I have nearly all the chosen built and ready for painting (again somewhere in this forum)

and I have festus half sculpted (yes you guessed it somewhere in this forum too)

At the moment I am working on my marauder horsemen with throwing axes.

I have finished the skin, faces and hair and they have been lesioned and boiled, personally I love freehanding the lesions and boils maybe more than painting actual sculpted boils

Then we have My Little Pony........or Ponies if you want to split hairs, couple of these need a little more work, like OSL from the red eyes as the other horses with red eyes already have this (not pictured) but from a skin/lesion and boils point of view these 5 are done.  The other 7 the skin is done they just need boils etc and I will photograph them once finsihed with that (probably tomorrow)

Yes I know there are no yellowy mustard coloured horses and I might glaze them a little to get the colour to a more light brown.....thoughts on that?

So far so good?

My little pony......
gallops into hell.....
via Valhalla....

nice

would make an interesting animated childrens half hour....
They wouldnt sleep for weeks....

Love the grey undercoat, seems to be working very well for you, not quite sure about the reasons why, but tonaly the colours seem different (?)
it must be the undercoat, rather than any inherent skill on the part of the painter....

Your skin tones & detail work are looking great, I love Nurgle themed armies in both fantasy & 40k!
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

@ CAB

how rude, I shall be having words tomorrow!

@ goon3423

Thanks mate, this is my first adventure into Nurgle and I am used to painting very neatly so will be interesting from my own personal point of view as to how it pans out.

Having done some Death Guard in 40k I will say it takes a minute to get the hang of "messy painting" but once you get it down its a lot of fun.

Very well done! I love those horses. Somehow I never seem to be able to paint them properly. I wish I could paint them as good as you did here. Gret stuff!

@ spevna

Thanks :D

@ Doomhippie

Thanks, these are the first real attempt at non armoured horses really all the ones before have been heavily barded, was just successive glazed highlights really think that the lesions probably draw the eye from any major faults (which I hope there are very few if any)

I have had food poisoning over the weekend so got sweet FA done on these and am now a fair way behind schedule....whole weekend of solid painting is uncoverable :(

but I have pressed on and progress has been made on the riders, they are all up to the same sort of stage....ready for the green armour and rusty metal to be painted.  Although I have pushed one to near total completion....picture is pap but its late and I cant be bothered to set up my light box sadly.

Personally I am getting massive good feelings from these already they are starting to give me goosebumps

Very nice Dee, the colours work well together and the green you've chosen is perfect for the minis! Can't wait to see a few finished pieces!

Very nice - and I like your green armour too.

Normally, green armour is common with Nurgle armies, but I rarely see a green that I think works well; yours however does work very well.

And I hope you feel better soon!

@ phreedh

thanks pal...not far, should be finished tomorrow.

@ Major_Gilbear

Thanks mate.

Right Hope everyone had a merry xmas.

I managed to do some work over the xmas break

pictures are bad and make the green look almost illumious (which it is most definately not) but decent pictures will appear once they are finished.

still have all the rusted metals on the horses together with some minor details like OSL from the eyes where needed etc and then the bases and they are done.....hopefully tomorrow night.
