that's cool Jaeger.
I've been fooling around with a few Lego Star Wars and Toy Story Green Army Men figures and an old Britains matchstick firing cannon this week in a version of HG Wells "Little Wars" kind of game. It seems to work well and is a real laugh but with only 4 figs a side it's over pretty quickly! - A trip to the Toy Shop tomorrow beckons!
For those interested;
I'm using "shells" cut from wooden BBQ skewers - 1/2" for pistol weapons, 1" for rifle weapons and 1 1/2" for support weapons. I've found that a figure may well survive a "pistol" hit but that those hit by a "rifle" are going down! Figures are unbased - standing on their own two feet as it were and move a hand span per turn. Hand to hand is done by playing "paper,scissors,stone - loser is killed.
I'm using a bare wooden table for the battlefield at the moment to try the idea out but I think a covering of clip together laminate flooring would work well with wooden chopping boards for hills and Lego or wooden bricks for the rest of the scenics.
As for pricing - pretty good compared to GW, 4 Rebel troopers plus a light vehicle for £10 - say £2 each ready "painted". GW High Elf Pheonix Guard 10 for £25 - £2.50 each which you still need to assemble and paint.
The future is bright - it's LEGO!
