[VSF] Steam powered three wheeler
« on: January 01, 2011, 10:34:47 PM »
So, a while back I was talking about building one of these;

Or something like it. Well, I have the wheels, the gun shield, the carriage frame and my choice between a gardner, nordenfelt or gatling gun. Before I begin assembling it I was hoping to get tips on a couple of things.

First, how does the front wheel connect to the carriage? It's kind of hard to tell for sure in the picture. It looks like it's attached by a metal rod that's been twisted into a spring. It then appears that it is steered by pulling a lever. Seems a bit flimsy to me.

Second, can anyone recommend some siting figures that I can us as riders? I imagine that WWII miniatures would be the most readily available. I'd have to modify and head swap them for a more Victorian flavor, of course. I still haven't decided if this will be a French, German or British machine.

Thanks for any help!

He himself is also partial to strange steam contraptions so check it out.

The maestro Paul Hicks has got something similar-ish in the pipeline.

Whoa, is that a machine gun quadracycle? I've always wanted one of those. Only, my parents wouldn't get me one and now that I'm an adult the insurance costs are totally unreasonable.  :'(

Maybe I'll finally try my hand at sculpting a body or two.

I know parents can be so damn unreasonable...

On the sculpting front it might be worth finding suitable plastics, much easier to convert and cheaper of course.
