All nice stuff though the sailors swing it for me, lovely sculpts. Will there be landing parties to accompany them so those early gunboat dramas can be recreated? Must admit i saw the civvys and thought of a certain ruined building in Texas............

The civvy chap third from the left in glasses would make a great Jameison, the Alamo engineer Nick.

The Empress website mentions 15 new modern Brit sculpts. Any chance of a peek?

Nice to see all the shots of all the Maori wars figures up on their site. Especially like the Royal Navy fellows.

As promised on the previous page, here are some photos of when in 1990 I took part in the official 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi:

These may be of interest, especially bearing in mind the new Empress Miniatures figures depict the wars that broke out in the exact same area only five years later.

Great pictures.

The police uniforms are very interesting, especially the hats.

Is the police facial hair real or glued on?  :)

Um, the facial hair is glued on.  Shades of the movie 'Gettysburg'!

The hats were a bone of contention.  The only record we found for these uniforms was written.  The hats were described as "cabbage tree hats".  My contention was that this meant a kind of brimmed straw hat, but my colleagues felt it was an early double-peaked shako.  They won, but I'm still not sure that I was not correct!

In any case, I would not base any figures on these uniforms (and, anyway, there were only five of these guys in the whole country)!

Third picture, blokes in row boat. Is that a mildly hirsute Daniel Craig (current Bond actor)? If not he has a stunt double.

Any chance that the upcoming NWF 1890's range will have the Gurkhas in bush hat and shorts? I think they didn't get that uniform until 1902 and I know Copplestone does these for WW1, but I would like to see them in the older gear. What about it, Empress?
