Man, that comic book painting style is one of the best things I've ever seen. Looks just like it came right from the cover of a graphic novel! You should totally write a How To on that technique!

I'm gonna start a small Sin City project in the near future and I want to try painting the figures exclusively black and white like in the novels, maybe I can get some inspiration from your miniatures.

:) Thanks chaps, much appreciated.

Everytime I look at the photos I see a new error or two so I best stop looking!  ;D

The major influences were Aliens (obviously) and Outland, with the latter prompting the 'wild west in space' theme for the civilians of dusters, pistols and shotguns.

The game board is very dark in colour with the intent of being played in darkness, so the clothing colour choices are intended to stand out from their background.

Regarding painting, no triads were used. I'm attempting to catch a fraction of the abiity of Captain Blood, as I have become a committed follower of his 'black undercoat, base coat then increasing amounts of added white' technique.

Thanks again. I'm now working  on terrain....... More soon (what with next weekend being an absolute deadline!)

Where are those TFT Kev sculpts I sent you then eh?;)

Nicey nicey so far as ever mate.

In looking at these they for some reason seemed visually familiar.  Then it dawned on me that your black lining style makes these look like they were drawn by the artist Moebius.

WAAAAAAY cool!!!

Very nice. Reminds me of the floorplans for AT-43.

Having played Silent Invader's excellent Aliens game today, I've posted a photo-battle report here: http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=34770.0

Here's a taster of the visual feast  ;)

Fantastic!

Totally enjoyed watching your progress on this game and all the work you put in modding the minis. A really super job and a super thread that I have enjoyed following since the start!

Well done, mate!  :-* ;D :-*

Partially offtopic but... I've just installed and played ALIEN SWARM... it's GREAT, and reminds me of your table a lot! You'd better give it a try!

After seeing the battle report and reading all pages of this awesome thread, I've got to resurrect it and ask: did you finish those ARV vehicles? I'm asking because I've got two jeeps that I'm planning on converting to something similar to yours.
