Medieval/Fantasy Retinue WIP (Pic hvy)
« on: January 21, 2011, 04:28:26 PM »
Hi everybody. I have been working on building some Medieval/Fantasy retinues with the hordes of old GW Bretonnian figs I have. I have already completed one. Here's the next one. The Retinue of Sir Percival Windland, Standard Bearer of the King.

The Figs are Old GW and Foundry. Infantry completed. Cav is about half done.

Here they are. First the group shots:

Men at Arms:

Halberdiers:

And Archers:

Working on the knights. Sir Percival is already complete as well. Will do a couple more warbands and add some fey creatures and elves, and some marauders from across the sea.

More on the project at the blog:http://leadaddict.blogspot.com/
Come by and check it out. Hope you enjoy.

really nice work.

why don't you use perry plastics instead of old gw? i know that abandoning minis is a bad thing, but perry's are so cheap that... lol

Well, they aren't cheaper than already owning these. Besides, I would almost bet my life that these are all Perry sculpts anyway. and the plastics from the WHFB box set are ususally available cheap.

And I do love the plastics that they do. I am sure I will pick up some for the crossbows alone.

I would almost bet my life that these are all Perry sculpts anyway.

that's why i suggested you to buy them! you are using your time with old minis when they are making even better ones!
but maybe you prefere the "empire" look on the "HYW" look, I understand that ^^

i was near to buy them... but the Maelstrom 17%off was finished the day before... i'll have to wait the next offer!

Cracking stuff - I keep lingering over the photos of Dave Andrew's Bretonnian army in the old Warhammer Armies book...

This isn't helping!  ;)

Very cool.

The new Perry WotR sculpts are a bit smaller than the old GW miniatures, actually.

Looks very nice. Especially the yellow and green, very striking!

What are you going to use these guys for?
Why aim for gold if you can get lead?

Nice work.
The command figures certainly look like Perrys...

thanks. I am going to use them for Song of Blades and Heroes and Brytenwalda. I want to do small warband skirmishes with them, but want more than 5 figs on the field a piece.

Nice job! I also have a bunch of old Bretonnian Men-At-Arms as they are nice sculpts.
Have an idea for them in mind but too many other projects on the go/ahead in the queue.
Yours are inspiring tho
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...

Hi kenohhkc, great little army, those old bretonnian Perry sculpts are my favorite. Beautiful green/yellow combo as well, yellow is tough to paint but yours came out great!
