Redoubt or Old Glory Ottomans?
« on: 04 February 2011, 02:34:14 PM »
Guys I am thinking of investigating the Eastern Med with my Foundry swashbucklers. I am just wondering if anybody has seen the Redoubt Turks in the flesh and how they would compare with Foundry figures. The line drawings look OK. Also how are the Old Glory figures??

I have OG, some Redoubt and TAG. TAG are my favourite, while OG are good to create larger units. the Redoibt are good but on the big side

I would definitely go for TAG as these are the best Ottoman figures on the market IMHO : they'd also match well with Foundry swashbucklers size-wize .

I'm generally not fond of Old Glory and certainly wouldn't claim objectivity here, but the few OG samples I've seen are not too bad - certainly better than many other OG ranges, which in itself is no great achievement. Obviously, that does not mean you don't get the obligatory contingent of gawky "Hey Steve !" poses with weird head angles without which Old Glory would not be Old Glory.

The Redoubt Ottoman Turks are probably beginning to show their age by now : are they actually that tall ? They can't be as huge as the Redoubt Wellington in India figures, certainly. Detail probably wouldn't as crisp as on the TAG range though, and Redoubt horses have always been somewhat sub-par.

Someone posted some really nice painted ones on Steve Deans forum very recently which I think were OG but as others have said I would go with TAG also.

If they are the ones I'm thinking about, they're actually from Brigade Games's Egyptian Campaign range :

Although they belong to a later period, they should be broadly compatible with TAG, though (well, perhaps not the mounted mamelukes).
