Wow, didn't have time to read all of it but the forest is amazing! It's so large and fantastical, I love it!  :-*

Maybe I should do a similar forest to complement my undead, though of course it would have to be much darker and more evil, like those old twisted Ian Miller forests 8)

Though I don't have the time at the moment 8)
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly
Before the storm begins

Thanks for the positive feedback, Pil! Not having time for your own projects is one of the prices of a successful commission business. While it can be frustrating not being able to do your thing, all that practice your getting will pay dividends when time permits some more creative works. Trust me on this...my present project is an example of long years of self denial.

Actually I have a fulltime job at the moment again so there's little time for painting, commission or otherwise 8)

That said, I'm glad I have a bit more income for now and I'm sure I'll be able to squeeze in some hobby time soon :)

Wonderful! You'vebrought back the sort of delightful fantasy madness you could find in the '80s but that has been replaced by bland scenics in the past few decades. :-* 8)

Thank you all for your WONDERFUL comments. The hardest part now will be to live up to all your kind words.

Today I started working on the boards for the forest & circle...just some prepping so far. A Witch's hut should be the next piece & work on a suitably strange tower. The faces, eyes, & other strange bits of green stuffing has proved to be so enjoyable that I will be carrying these elements through the entire project...some of the extra pieces may very well find their way to the mailboxes of some unsuspecting Forum Friends...BWAHAHAHAHA!

Compo Heep's Mushroom & Bat Poop Farm (in & around that cave in the group photo) is also in the works. Here's Compo Himself:

'Compo Heep's Mushroom & Bat Poop Farm'  lol lol lol
That title made me grin so much!
Genius!

Compo looks fantastic, too.  :-*

Awaiting the next installment most eagerly!

Thanks, Mason...I'll try not to keep you waiting.
I started working on the two boards in the group photos. So far I just have the bottoms & edges finished & the cave primed. I hope to have the smaller of the two boards done over the weekend...or not.

As a demonstration of the value of critiques, Mordheimer suggested I do a dry brush on the trees' foliage for contrast. SO...

AND the start of Heep's Cave:

As always, comments & critiques would be GREATLY appreciated...for the most part.

Yet more goodness coming our way from the warped genius living in the mind of DeafNala!

Looking very good, sir.
Cant wait to see it finished.
That tree above the cave is already looking pretty menacing!

Regarding the contrasting drybrush; I always do a drybrush on foilage to create depth, but, to be honest, did not think that your trees needed it the way mine do.
Mine are supposed to be in a ruined, delapidated town, so contrast was a must to reflect the decay.
Your fantasy forest has a life and vibrancy all of its own, so I did not feel it was needed.
I think it looks good either way.

Just looked through the entire thread, What an amazing fantasy forest / land you've created  :-* :-*

Makes me want to try to sculpt some Goblin and froud type creatures..
