'Rough rider' cavalry figures?
« on: February 11, 2011, 12:46:05 PM »
Anyone know where I can get some finely sculpted 'rough rider' style figures (do not have to be 100% accurate), ideally with smokey bear hats?

They are for American archaeologist/military type figures for colonial/BoB

Thanks in advance

Tiger miniatures

I've heard a lot of criticism of Tiger minis, some well deserved, but I've seen these in the flesh and they are nice minis.

Burnt 65 has some in his American VSF army

I need to rewrite it:
tiger miniatures: MP01 & MP06 Mounties on foot and horseback. Ex HLBS models. Maybe taller that other figures. Maybe also a little formal uniform for the purpose you want.
Tiger miniatures has also various rough riders see: http://www.tigerminiatures.co.uk/page2.htm

Pulp figures: Check PHP14 and PHP8: http://www.pulpfigures.com/cat.php?range=Personalities&catalog=PHP&custID=79167502461297435425
not to forget to mention the Yukon Perils range. A couple of mounties in PYP1

Copplestone castins: BC8 a very nice paleontologist, plus (chinese) assistant and nice fossils. He is based on Roy Chapman Andrews, the famous american palaeontologist and adventurer. he did remarkable job in the mongolian desert and maybe the archetype of Indiana Jones.

Copplestone has male and female archaeologists for BOB and colonial settings but alas none in smokey bear hats.

I think Plynkes has mentioned the OG chaps in the other thread. See their "Pancho Villa and Pershing in Mexico" series. there might be some interesting models there.

And possibly some interesting models from Spanish American war range:

Last but not least:
Reviresco, I remember has a couple of mounties, too.  Sorry no link.

Company B a couple of drivers:

They also have a set of 3 crew for the scout car in the kind of hat you are looking for. I think they go together with the car and are not sold separately. See them here:
http://homepage.mac.com/brentdietrich/companyB_models_interwar.html

As I fancy more of the miniatures are with colonial helmets. If you need more variety in headgear you may also use some of the SAS / Longrange Desert Patrols crews by Company B or Artizan design. They can easily be used in colonial settings.

I have forgotten to add the Askari miniatures.
Some useful types here:

However Ignatieff, Askari has some more useful types for your games, in their catalogue.

Sorry to get all bossy on you, but the rules say no duplicate threads.  We end up having multiple redundant conversations and you wouldn't believe how annoyed some folks get about that.

Pick whichever category you think fits best next time (or use "Other Adventures") rather than starting two threads, please.  :)

The Old Glory fellows I mentioned on the other version of this thread don't look half bad really, considering they are Old Glory.
