I can't choose this time. This one goes down as a draw on my personal scorecard.

B.P.R.D is obviously still "the shit". Check out these Play Mobile figures.

Hi Grimm,

don't know where all the posts from round 1 have gone to, there I had a quite lenghty description about painting the knights ...

The short version: heraldic figures are decals from Empire decals

http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2h4x8/id11.html

painted over for lights and shadows.

Thanks for your interest.

Hi Michael,

sorry, the 1.Round topics are removed to the Admin board to keep the board a bit clean. Later I will create a sort of gallery of the League with all the pics!

Here your answer from the old poll:

Code: [Select]

@ Lt.Hazel: Thanks for the nice comments! It was a joy painting them as they are so nice sculpts by the early Perrys from their Foundry "Baron Wars" range, and true 25 mm.

Well, I use a variety of color brands, today mostly Game Colour from Vallejo, the old Citadel range manufactured today by Coat d'arms, the one or other from Foundry and my trusty and cared for Ral Partha paints, supported by some Plaka, Andrea, Vallejo Air and ordinary cheap hobby brands.

I was really inspired by the Prof's magnificent Bolsheviks Cavalry horses and wanted to get as many brown variations as he did; see them here:

http://www.backofbeyond.de/gallery_bolsheviks_cavalry.html

The painting process was an experimental one: looking at real horse photos in books and on postcards or my own photos, I picked a special hue I wanted to realize and started to look at my paints for the most similar tone. That was my main color. Then looking for a much darker color as the shadow tone, and a much lighter one for the highlights. Painting started then traditionally with the three-color-method from dark to light, adding the one or other fourth or fifth highlight. After that all the details like the area around the mouth, eyes, mane, hooves, stockings, white head markings etc. It was all quite experimental, and I tried several color combinations until I found the best working ones. These have been painted in a small 2x2 cm area onto small index cards, together with the name of the color. So I'm now able to duplicate it whenever I want to. When I update my website again, I'll show some of those cards and you could read the exact colors I used!

Both! Well, all the figures (the lions) are decals from Artem Vorobiev's magnificent range Imperial Forge: http://www.imperialforge.net/

They were cut to fit and pushed into the folds and creases with the help of decal solvents "Micro Set" and "Micro Sol". When dry I painted them over for shadows and highlights.

I will let you know when my site has been updated with many more photos of the knights. Thanks for your interest, and have a go with horse painting yourself. It's fun!

Hi Alex,

thanks very much for you kind repeating of my comments.  :)

I was really thinking about changing my team, but with so many things to complete for our game at Crisis I don't have the time to paint anything new. But maybe I'll do some more photos in a minute of spare time to get a new team from some of the figures from my collection ...  8)

Cheers,
