Well, I didn't really need any persuading to save up for some, but if I had, those pics would certainly have done the trick  :-*

I got two boxes at WMMS on Sunday, but I had to see these to realise how good they are.

Completion of my first unit of zouave conversions has bee delayed due to an overdose of real life. However, painting is coming on slowly but nicely. Time to do a bit more work on their coats....

Fantastic work on those conversions! Those parts fit together really well- I never would have suspected that Kroot could be compatible with Perry figs. Did you have to do a lot of trimming?

A bit of work ....

I drilled out the necks of the Perry zouaves and trimmed Kroot necks to fit, then greenstuffed to any gaps and reworked coat collars as required.

The biggest problem was the left arm. Kroot torsos are wider than zouaves, so I had to cut through the wrist and adjust arm position to fit between wrist and zouave shouldwe. Then greenstuff gaps as neccessary.

Kroot lower legs also had to be trimmed/angled in order to butt with the zouave pants to achieve a believable walking/standing position.

Sounds like a bit of work.

But they really came out super!  Classic VSF!   :-*

Splendid job there. Looks like a bit of a pain to do, but the result is worth it.

My admittedly wonky schoolboy French tells me it should be Tirailleurs Cytheriens, mind.  ;)

Well done with those! Obviously lots of work involved and they look fantastic. It's not often you can genuinely use the word "unique" but those chaps are and I love 'em  :-*

Mind, you - when everyone else shamelessly copies your idea, they won't be uniqe any more. Make the most of it  lol

Split a box of the Zouaves with Chairface that Sterling Moose had picked up at Cold Wars for us.
Will be used as the start of my Confederate troops (my timeline has the Rebs successfully seceding - a la Turtledove).  Great idea from Moose was to pick up some Hinterland troops as a "Daughters of the Confederacy" Zouave unit as well.  So three Zouave units in the works now!
Also picked up the Reaper "Smedley" figure for an officer and a couple of 1/72 FT-17 which will convert into some one man scout vehicles
