Custer?
« on: February 25, 2011, 04:07:34 PM »
I guess this is where to post this, or would Old West be better?
Anyway.
I'm now thinking of making a Custer's disaster in 1876 diorama
Does any one have any good suggestions for 15 or 25 mm scale figs?
Of course(considering the site) I'm partial to metal, but Good plastic for fillers, to finish out the scene will do too.
Company names and a few pics would be tremendously appreciated.

Usually we put this kind of thing in Old West, but it is one of those borderline cases, as it is really both.

I'm rather a fan of the Foundry Little Bighorn personalities set and the others in that range, myself.

You don't need to look further than Foundry, there's plenty and they've never been bettered 8)

Check out Dixon, their Custer range is really good and is not made by the "ballon head sculptor".

Wargames Illustrated also has a Custer vignette

Old Glory have a "last stand" diorama set in their Warpaint range. It has troopers shooting from behind fallen horses, etc. It would probably be a good addition to the Foundry characters (although I'm sure the OG pack has the personalities included also).

My preference would be Foundry, wonderful figures and a good variety of poses and characters too.

Thanx a bunch guys! Those all look great.

But there always is a but ain't there?
On the campaign in 1876, the men were wearing red flannel shirts, straw hats and the uniform blue w/ yellow stripe pants. Are there any like that out there, or would I have to convert?
The troopers behind dead horses sound fantastic! Need lots of those! I love the the Cook fig, looks Exactly like I've always pictured him. He was Canadian, don't cha know?

Also Custer has freshly shorn his flowing locks for that campaign. Need a Custer w/ short hair and not in uniform too.

But (again, These figs all look fantastic and are exactly the type of thing I needed. I have always painted D&D And Star Frontiers figs and have 0 experience in old west stuff, so, Thanx a lot! I'll let everyone know how this progresses!

Sorry I posted in the wrong place, Thanx for the correction.

In my defense, somebody agreed with me that it could be either, but glad its in the right place now.

Blue Moon has a VERY nice 15mm Plain's War range that has personalities in it.

Thanks,
