Des Roten Bruderschaft
« on: 02 March 2011, 02:29:02 PM »
The Red Brotherhood. A mysterious alliance of vampires recently painted by Chris, one of my CinCar opponents. They were kind enough to pose on their ruined tower. Catch their first outing in Chapter Ten of The Curse of the Dertflinghans by clicking on the sticky at the top of the Gothic Horror forum.

Cheers Malamute  ;)

The tower is one of GW's new bits of warhammer scenery (Dreadstone Blight I think its called). There is another set (Witchfate Tor) which is essentially the same tower but still in a state of good repair. The ruin is by far the cheaper ($35 as opposed to $85 when I last looked) and more useful of the two sets in my opinion.

Nice shot Jet!!

BTW, My German is rather rusty so we relied on Google to translate the name. My apologies to all German speakers on this forum (es tut mir leit meine herren!).  ::)

Amusingly enough, while not an accurate translation of "The Red Brotherhood", it does make sense in that it is a genitive construction...

... the current title reads "The Red's Brotherhood", or "Brotherhood of the Red One", which doesn't sound bad at all.

If you want "The Red Brotherhood", a proper German translation would be "Die Rote Bruderschaft" (cf. "die, Bart, die!" ;) - "die" being the definitive article for a female-gender noun, which is "Bruderschaft", and "rote" the adjective amended to match the gender of the noun, accordingly).

Anyway, focusing on the content, that's some nice deep red tone you got for the cloaks. I really like the bases - great execution on a classic theme.

Both the tower and the Minis look very nice. What colours did you use on that tower?

btw. did you have any problems with Tower parts that were bent too far? In my set the section with that panel with the winged skeleton has a too small radius and doesn't fit.

Far less active than I used to...

Thanks guys.

Chapter Eleven will pick up where Chapter Nine left off, with Sir Thrustam and his companions making their way back to Dertflinghan. I can tell you now, there's one hell of a surprise in store for them. I've said too much...

TERRIFIC LOOKING minis & terrain! They turned out SO good I had to read my way through the Dertflinghans stories...WONDERFULLY INSPIRING STUFF!
My Mordheim Night Goblin War Band is also named The Red Brotherhood...they have red hoods & are passing themselves off as monks. The title sounds much more sinister in German...no offense intended to my German speaking Brethren.

Glitzer: I didn't have any problems with the casting of my tower. The wall sections had to be test-fitted first and required a little cleaning around the joins (and a little experimentation to see what actually went where) but otherwise it was fine. If your kit was deformed I'd contact GW customer service.

They may or may not help you but its still worth a try. They should at least replace that component since they sold you a bad kit after all... >:(

I don't think that's necesarry, i'ts nothing that could not be adjusted with a pot of boiling water (read that trick somwhere on the internet) . I just wondered if investing the money into the bigger tower would leave me with more faulty parts or not.
