Never really imagined Cruise for the role...I'm starting to get worried... Like, really worried, like when they were making Judge Dredd the movie and I was really excited to see it even thou I knew it was going to suck...and it did... :? :'(

all 5 ft of him.  ::)
I wonder if his Scientology cronies will think less of him? (Doubtful, did anyone see Battlefield: Earth  :-X what a stinker...)

Apparently his reps updated an hour ago via a tweet or a twitter or whatever-you-call-it saying he was still NOT confirmed for the project.

I guess attaching a big name star and producer would help secure a big budget.  I just hope the budget goes to good special effects and locations and not to paying Mr. Cruise.
Now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb...

Yup. so it seems.

Don't forget that hopefully some of the $ will go to a decent script that has something to do with the story written by H.P.L.

We shall see.
But I have for the most part given up on Hollywood doing justice to any book/story/comic that I like.

But think of the $ hollywood can save by using real live penguins instead of having to pay for CGI giant ones!

I totally agree. A good script will be key to this project as most of the story has precious little dialogue.  Regardless, I don't think I like the idea of Tom Cruise "squeeling" his way though HPL (great term Silversixx).

They're basically doing a remake of Mission Impossible 3 with all the exterior changed to snow and mountains. And a small splash of Days of Thunder (One of the best films ever!) in the end when the main character is chased down an enormous rollercoasteresque avalanche/path on a sledge, chased by some star spawns on snow mobiles.
