Harrassment of Harrenhall (Battles of Westeros AAR)
« on: March 09, 2011, 07:20:09 PM »
I realize this is the "lead adventure forum" and not the "cardboard stands forum"  lol  .But I thought it would be nice to share some pictures and a small writeup of the Battles of Westeros scenario I played this weekend with my buddy Calle.

Check it out on my blog - there is a review of the game in there as well if you are interested, click the "Boardgame Review" category to dig it up :-)

This particular scenario is the very last one out of the main scenarios in the campaign book.

Nice report, thanks for sharing!  I will be trying this system soon, how does it compare to previous Command & Colors systems? (Battlecry, Memoir '44, C&C Ancients, Battlelore)

Well you can read all about it here;

Explaining the components

Explaining the rules
http://anatolisgameroom.blogspot.com/2010/12/battles-of-westeros-part-3-gameplay.html  :)

But in short this game  is imo far superior to Memoir44 and I think it is better than Battlelore as well. Instead of dividing the board in 3 zones and relying on luck to be able to move units around - you have command models joining units and you can use command cards to activate units within a commanders zone of influence.

You also generate Command Tokens by rolling dice at the start of each turn, these single tokens can be used to activate single units of the corresponding color or to rally fleeing units.

This gives the game a lot more flexibility imo.
