Colonial T&T question
« on: March 16, 2011, 03:06:04 AM »
Hello all,
I recently ordered a copy of T&T, and the colonial supplement, as part of my first foray into colonial wargaming.  I was looking to start with some Zulu War gaming, and have started purchasing figures.  Could someone give me an idea of the minimum number of figures per side would constitute a decent start for T&T?  I'd like to get started with T&T as soon as I am able, and trying to begin with the smallest painting goal possible due to my embarrasingly slow rate of painting.
Thanks,
Chris

Hi,

we played a scouting mission recently.
We used 24 British and about 60 natives.
That worked very nice.

I also played a larger game with 35 British and 100 natives the same day.

Actually T&T enables you to play with every number of models you have available. So a game with 8 British and 20 Zulus is possible.  Make 2 British units of 4 men each and 4 units of 5 Zulus and play a manhunt after the Isandlwana disaster. Absolutely possible and fun.

Cheers
Björn

This is some great advice. I always thought the minimum for a decent bout was ~30. However, I am really pleased that I can a crack at this game with much fewer figures!

I think odds of three native to two imperial work out about right, however many figs you actually use.
Remember it's also traditional to "recycle" native units  ;)

Good luck and enjoy the games

I do this too.  ;)  recycling

The unit size is just a general hint in the basic rules. You can play with smaller units and have great games too.
