The Bogeyman
« on: 21 March 2011, 12:28:05 AM »
Yesterday morning I woke up with the feeling I had to paint this figure that had been sitting around for a few months, so I painted it yesterday in about an our and a half ( ;D I know, it looks like it!  lol )

I couldn't photograph it yesterday as the batteries in my camera were flat, but here it is.

Note: I have yet to base it, so it should come up a bit better then... plus I hope to take a better photo of the figure... for some reason I couldn't focus on it properly.

for those wanting stats, this is what I have been working on, but it hasn't been play tested yet, and there are no BP for it, as I have no idea how to allocate points.

M    Dex   Con    A    W    Res.   Skills
6     4+     7       2    2     3+     Command, sneaky,

Weapons: Sickle (C.C.B. +2, Dam. D+2, AP1, Parry)

Special: Humanoid, Terror

Scarecrows: The Bogeyman may only work with Scarecrows, and as such may not be included in any other Lurker group.

In Play testing i'd start him as a 10 point lurker, as his stats and bonuses are quite tough,

Very nice miniature and the rules seem pretty solid as well.

Cool idea...what about these scarecrows? I need to know more...

I have stats for the scarecrows too:

M   Dex.    Con.    A    W    Res.    Skills
6     5+       6      1    2    5+      Tough

Weapons: Grab (C.C.B. +1 Dam. D+1)

Special: Humanoid, Fear

Kidnap: Scarecrows will attempt to grab a victim and drag them off the table (where they will be tied to a scarecrow pole and turned into scarecrows). If the Scarecrow wins a round of Close Combat they may choose to kidnap the opponent. Although still considered to be in base to base, no more Close Combat needs to be fought. Kidnapped models may attempt to break free as an Action (make a Dex. check and if passed, place the model 2" away from the Scarecrow). Scarecrows may only move half movement when dragging an opponent.
Scarecrows must drag their victims off the Lurker short board edge of the game table, and if successful the model is lost to the Threshold Player.
If the Threshold player wins the game models that would have normally searched for map pieces may instead search for the lost models.  On a roll of 5-6 the model is found. If unsuccessful treat the model as dead.
If the model is found roll for a major injury, put ignore results of "dead".

Bogeyman/Scarecrow scenes of horror

As with other lurkers, the Bogeyman can include scenes of horror as part of its set up.  Suggested scenes of horror are dead twisted trees, a 'murder' of scarecrows on poles (if any one knows where to buy 28mm scale scare crows on poles please let me know) or even a small field of corn (with scarecrow).  Note - the 'murder' of scarecrows is in fact the victims kidnapped.

For Scarecrows I am using the Crooked Dice Corndolls - I have some of the figures, but unpainted as yet.

Yep - he is tough, but I did this so to make up for the fact that only scarecrows can be used with the Bogeyman, and that the scarecrows are not as strong (as I want them to be used in numbers)

That's a really interesting concept for the scarecrows, plus they sound quite fun to play with. I'll definitely have to give them a try when I finally get my SA games going.

I like the Kidnap ability...anything that can change the flow or objective of a mission is a neat factor.  This can quickly turn things into a rescue mission for a valuable team member.

Never considered using that Artizan figue as a scarecrow, painted up properly he kinda fits the bill.

You folks probably already know this, but - - -

Six really lovely 28mm scarecrows are available from RAFM:

I've got a few of them painted up.

Scarecrows rarely scare crows... but they are kind of scary to people  o_o

There's a lot of different scarecrow models around here and they're definitely a horror classic worthy of using as lurkers.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!
