« on: March 22, 2011, 08:14:26 AM »

There are 2 sets basically, the orcs that come with spears and then the same set with different arms as the post apoc set.

How did this post get lost? I didn't notice it till now. These really look great, now I want to start an Orcs and Goblin army with just these guys; how unique would that look on a table? I bet people's mouth would drop, seeing all these cool minis (plus that catapult) from across a table. I have to learn how to paint rust like you do (can't remember, did you have a tutorial on your site?).

Btw, I particularly like She Hulk. :D

Cheers

I have just finished my army of orcs, I will get some photos done my mum has my camera at the mo!)

Rust is very easy:

1 paint it reddy dark brown (I used Vallejo Hull Red mixed with a bit of black)

2 Wash with darker brown

3 Using a toothbrush stipple orange paint all over the metal(I used GW foundation macherite orange)

4 Paint the edges of the plates in silver, and add some scratches in the same colour.

I love the way you've done the orcs and the dungers are very nice too.

The only thing that puts me off is the size of the spears. I know it's fashionable amongst many fantasy gamers, but personally I'd prefer more natural proportions (within the bounds of casting limitations of course) such as the LOTR range. However, if that's what the majority want, then obviously they amke financial sense  :)

The post-apoc versions are much more what I'm after though. The guns are quite large, but not overly so. They'll be great as irradiated mutants. Definitely on my list!

Will you be at Games Expo again this year? If so I will try and get to your stand.

Ahh, the spears. I have to make them really chunky so they will survive gaming. Skinnier ones than this would just be too brittle.

Yes, that's what I thought. I've lost count of the number of cast spears that I have snapped off, so probably a good idea to do it as you have  :D

Darn... I was contemplating doing zombiecalypse as my first project when digging back into the hobby a little later this spring.... Now I'm wondering if I should go PA instead.... well, zeds can be used for that purpose, too...  ::)

Too many fun minis out there, really....  :)
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!
