Tumbling Bear and Rising Sun
« on: 08 April 2011, 10:06:47 PM »
Been thinking of doing Russo Japanese 1904 for ages and on the basis I can add the Japanese to my Boxer Rising ones (thats why I went with early war uniform) I finally buckled.

Did a couple of quick paints as tests this morning on these Redoubt minis

May add some Copplestone Whites into the Ruskis? and there is a nice WWI green on the Scarab site that I think will work ok if they ever release it. Dare I go OG?

Those look really nice. How are the Redoubt minis? I've had mixed experiences with their ranges, some are great others not so much, they look really nice though.

How accurate are you wanting the Japanese as the Copplestone Chinese do me for the VSF version (as you probably already know  ;) ).

Also, how long are you prepared to wait for a proper range? I'll let you in on a little secret, I'm going to be commissioning a range during the summer...

Good paint jobs  :) I know how lousy the Redoubt figures are.

cheers

Top job Svennn, these look like they're from the good end of the Redoubt range  8)

Well, the plan is to have historical figures (accurate historical, not just 'it'll do' historical) and then to have VSF additions later on  :)

I had guessed/hoped as much from your previous hints and nearly alluded to it in my original post - brilliant news.  If I had not lost my job I would have beaten you to it but I just cannot afford such endeavours at present.  I have been ammassing reference material for quite sometime and probably have more books about this conflict than any other in my collection now ::)

I've been interested in this since I first read a vivid account of the siege of Port Arthur in an old copy of War Monthly that had somehow found it's way into my primary school class, 26yrs ago.

Good luck with the work and keep us posted !
