There is this Mad Max Car Competetion underway (I think I mentioned it somewhere in my truck thread). Anyway, I intend to take part in it with a conversion of the truck, so here are the first few pictures.

The basic setup, vehicle cluttered with bags, fuel drums and stuff. Harpoon and gunner's seat are scratchbuilt. A parasol will be mounted above the seat.

And the basic colour scheme, windows, weathering and everything else still to be done.

The catch is that the contest ends next Friday. We'll see  8)

Deliberately. I want a Mad Max I look rather than II or III, where society is still somewhat intact.

I wish I would have known about this contest sooner. I definitely would have entered. The Mad Max films are some of my favorites.

Beautiful, but not dirty enough. Post-apoc is always dirty, even Waterworld (despite being surrounded by water...). Use some red and black pastel dust to dirty up those wonderful flames you have done.

Still working on it - rust is already added (in fact, the slight irregularities around the edges are a masking medium with rust underneath. It is already rubbed off, so the rust shows through.), dirt will be added during the last stages when the model is already fixed to the base.

The organizers have just extended the deadline until Monday, which gives me the time to deliver at least something presentable 8)

Pedestal, right before priming:

I tried Sangennarus concrete method for the road, but my MDF seems to be considerably harder, so I had to revert to a rotating tool to make the cracks. The earth is Milliput, the wooden base is from www.sockelmacher.de

Thankfully, tomorrow is my day off, so I still have chance to finish this in time...
