Grey Knight Castalan Crowe - WIP
« on: 14 April 2011, 01:52:03 PM »
I know isn't out yet....I am privilaged I guess.

I am painting his armour all white as my personal army of Grey Knights will be all white as it is the colour of purity plus my GKs will be all white with the red cross of the santiago (knights of the santiago - close links to the Spanish inquisition), and will contrast nicely to my Black Templars.  Not sure if I sell this model once it is finished or keep it very much undecided.

Hopefully this will be finished tomorrow so I can take it to the shop ready for saturday.

Liking the white Mr Dee...I prefer it to the silver myself although with the 'Eavy Metal teams NMM they are also minty fresh.
Also nice work on the sword...again I prefer it to the blueish hue that seems most prevalent these days,
Would like to see the finished model on it's base if you get a chance
Keep up the good work
Cheers

Thanks mate, I will definately take some pictures of it before it goes on display.

In respect of the colour choice I love it too and I think it will make my grey knights stand out from the crowd to a certain extent, although it is going to be a PAIN IN THE BLOODY ARSE doing it on a land raider or storm raven...........

this is the style of cross going on them

how sexy is that!!

red cross of the santiago (knights of the santiago - close links to the Spanish inquisition)

Indeed, very nice....

Very 'flat'.....
just wondered if any of his nice clean & shiney armour will be, well, shiney?

Thanks mate, I won't be glossing this one just yet I want to test it on a black reach crappy model first see if it works before committing to something decent.  As you know though mate i am isanely busy with work, study and golden demon entries at the moment so I am in no rush for these guys...I have been wanting them for over 2 years sure I can wait a little longer :D

Beautifully painted, horrible over cluttered model though. The clean lines of the original marines are much nicer imo.

Thanks mate, it looks fine to the naked eye mate, probably just my poor camera angles?? Or a gust of wind has caught the banner :P

Yeah cluttered it is, painting layer upon layer of white and grey onto his power armour was a pain in the arse.....I have Drago (named termi grey knight) to do soon as well and he is even worse!! but at least he comes with a helmetless head so I can do what I love ..... Faces

At first, I was thinking it was not so bad.  But then I realized I was comparing it to the recent marine characters who are dragging around about 300 pounds of braid, ribbons, seals, crests, daggers, gold trim and other crap.

I'm becoming desensitized to clutter.  :o
