Cthulhu temple/tomb pillar - and 1st shots of doorway
« on: April 21, 2011, 09:56:24 AM »
Freshly sculpted, some polishing to do once fired off but here's my take on a pillar for the tomb room to go with the sarcophagus lid I showed last week....... it stands 160mm tall and one of the Four A demons in for scale too plus the last photo of it next too the sarchophagus lid.

3 shots going around the pillar -

some macro shots of the detailing

the group shot so far and am currently working on some walls, not shown........

First of, I think you are one of the best sculptors of cuthuloid terrain around and work like this shows you have great sill as well as patience with it. (almost as bad as doing rivets I imagine, all those bulbs)

However, and this might partially be due to the fleshy colour, it does somewhat remind me of something one might find in a store of more adult nature.  ::) I would say that ads an entire new layer of horror but I'm pretty sure the japanese have that sort of thing covered already.  lol

Still great work, slightly disturbing in a different kind of way tough.

This was also my first impression... especially with all the piercings on it! :o

lol  yes, one of the Frothers wants it cast in silicone!!   :o

Hopefully it will make more sense once I sculpt the walls and
get it cast up as a complete tomb set, will also be making optional
base and topper parts too   8)

1st shots of doorway

2 shots of the 1st side of the door, detail will be sculpted on both sides to allow for a bit of variety on a setup containing more than one door.  The mdf former for the wall section to the left - putty later!

Andy's 4A miniature demon for scale but it's 11.5cm across the wide point and 13cm top to bottom, I also have an open doorway - will post later as I'm trying to do something a little different to the usual open doorway..............

That is shaping up to be one unique door.  I'm interested to see what you do for the open doorway that you mentioned.  Great stuff!
