WW1 British Cavalry
« on: May 02, 2011, 09:22:18 AM »
Anybody have any thoughts on 28mm British WW1 Cavalry as I want to do a small squad in Wolsley helmets.

What is out there (have thought of Renegade with Wodbines heads)?

The basis of the army I have in mind is using Woodbine figures - they look so good

Thanks in advance for any thoughts

IIRC Brigade do cavalry in Wolseleys.  I think the Renegade/Woodbine combo would work fine also

Renegade are quite chunky, while Woodbine are at the smaller end of the scale. You may find they don't match up too well. But I haven't actually tested that theory, so you may be okay. Another option would be putting the Woodbine heads on the Great War Miniatures early war cavalry. They are closer in size and you have the added bonus that GWM do dismounted versions to go with them.

On the other hand, as Svennn says Brigade Games already do Yeomanry cavalry in Wolseleys, so you can get them without any converting if you like. The horses also come with fly veils and extra bandoliers, so already have quite a cool tropical look to them. My only reservation about the Brigade Brits is that the Wolseleys look a bit odd to me, not the best-sculpted version out there. But only a bit. Otherwise the figures are nice, and it is perhaps just me being a bit picky.

GWM cavalry with Woodbine head seem to work very well...
