Heresy's Inspectors
« on: 05 May 2011, 11:32:01 PM »
Did these a little while ago but seeing as I've just done a new and improved picture of them I thought it was worth touting my paint jobs again.

A larger image can be seen HERE

Keep meaning to do the rest of my Heresy sci-fi space ship crew and perhaps add a few other pieces into the mix.

I love those Heresy figures, and you've painted them beautifully.
Very clean and sharp.
I'd love to see your take on VINCENT B. RUDDOCK, WANTED CRIMINAL if he's one of the figures you have to do?

Love that style!  Are those bases a pre existing product?

I've always loved those models, and the painting really brings them to life. Beautiful shading/highlighting once again.

Thanks  :D

I made the bases myself using Wills chequer plate plastic sheet and a few details added with plain plastic sheet, Grandt Line hex nut bolts and a little bit of etched brass mesh from Hasslefree.

Scratch-built bases too? They're superb! How did you get the circles so smooth? However hard I try when I do the same thing, the plasticard circle is never quite circular (because cutting it smoothly is tough), or there are rough bits here and there that filing just doesn't seem to smooth out.
In any case, these are beautiful minis - like I said, I think I'll be picking up a pack myself based on these photos.

Get a cutting compass, they're great for base toppers and DS inserts.

Lovely figures as ever, have seen these before though, FOD or frothers?

Spot on with the compass cutter. I find the best thing to do when cutting shapes out of textured sheet material is to cut on the smooth side of the sheet. That way you get a neater cut as the blade doesn't have to fight against the texture and you also get less of a ridge forming on the textured edge after cutting. Mush easier to lightly sand away without knackering the detail then.

And yes you may have seen them elsewhere. I have been doing some shameless self promotion recently.  ;)

Lovely, the castings have a slightly "cartoony" vibe and your paintjob enhances this without it being OTT. Screams "Judge Dredd" to me, which can only be a good thing  lol

I keep meaning to buy this set and after seeing these it's a must!

Thanks for the advice Commander Viper and Stone-Cold - makes a lot of sense. I hadn't thought about cutting on the smooth side rather than the ridged side, but I'll do it next time. This is what I love about the LAF - the little tips and tricks you can pick that make perfect sense once somebody has pointed them out!
