Say, Dave -

After a bit of faffing about I got my picture to layer properly on the card, but when I go to adjust the statistics I don't see the little triangle you mention. When I click where it should be, I get a message saying "You are attempting to open a group, which is not supported in Photoshop Elements. The layers in this group will be simplified into a single layer. Simplify? Y/N".

Pardon my stupididity, but what am I doing wrong? Is my Photoshop insufficiently up-to-date? I've got Photoshop Elements 8. Does the fact that I'm working on a Macintosh make any difference...?

Heldrak, I use a Mac & not a P.C. (Pretend Computer ;) ) so that won't be your problem.

When you're trying to edit the card in Photoshop, does your layers palette look like the pic below?

If not then it may be something to do with Photoshop Elements which is a cut down version of the full blown Photoshop application. I would be surprised if it is though because I thought Elements handled layers fully  :?  Hopefully Dave can shed more light on this for you.

...and what fresh new hell is this?

Great stuff! Beautiful cards

I should add that my copyright only extends to the card itself, how the end user populates it for their personal use is their affair!

Of course that's fair so tomogui you should be careful where you post and how you use the GW names, I'm guessing Suigg is a copyrighted name and GW are very protective. That said the cards are beauties and your painting is great

I will post up a version without groups when I get a moment today.
Photoshop elements is the cheap cut down version of Photoshop - you can also use gimp, which is a free program, but the workflow is different for making the mask.

No, I don't get an individualized palette like the one you show, I just get the error message that I quoted...  :'(

All fixed up now for elements.  I recomposed the layers so it is much easier to use too!  Just paste and your done!

You're probably absolutely right. I didn't even think about IP when I made 'em. Just got enthusiastic to show Dave how excited I am about Skulldred! Oh well, if  I get a cease-&-desist letter from the Evil Empire, I will remove 'em. The painting is not mine, by the way; these are images downloaded from the Internet.

Could you make a step-by-step guide for GIMP, too, please? My PhotoShop refused to be installed on Vista, so I have started dabbling in GIMP, but I'm by no means an expert...
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

In the meantime, more suggestions for rules changes for first edition here...

I just got GIMP working.
Looks like I have to build a different card so you can use GIMP, as it does not read psds as well as I was lead to believe.
This may take a while- its really hard to switch between photoshop and gimp.

Not only file-wise... I used to use photoshop all the time, and now I'm trying to learn to do just half the things in GIMP that I used to do in a blink of an eye. Completely different interface. I LOATHE having to learn new intefaces lol
