Hmm, thought I was done with this thread. But found this 12 minute clip of episode 2 of an old silent Tarzan series. This features Elmo Lincoln and Louise Lorraine. Haven't looked up the year yet. This one is actually very cool, and very pulpy. There are three different jungle girls in this one, including Jane, La of Opar, and Ara the Giant She Ape!

1925 to 1954 Charles Gemora goes ape; an important conterpart to the jungle girl is often the gorilla, and Charles Gemora was one of the most important actors and constructors of gorilla suits in Hollywood from the mid-1920's through the mid-1950's. This video clip celebrates his work, including a scene with Jane from the 1929 Tarzan movie and a scene from the 1932 movie The Savage Girl:

Nice redhead, D Phipps! This would be a good place to collect photos of painted jungle girl figures. That one reminds me of Jana of the Jungle, one of the few redheaded jungle girls in the comics.

Actually, have been thinking about a scenario in which various jungle girls types compete to see who gets to be crowned the Queen of the Jungle. Perhaps the action could revolve around a confused George of the Jungle type character, with the various competitors for Queen of the Jungle trying to save him from villians or something. That might be a lot of fun.
