help wanted - spraycan gone wild
« on: 07 June 2011, 09:58:07 PM »
Hi, I hope someone can help me with the following

a friend had some plastic Perry horses painted by spraycan. While the first and second can were perfect, the third one went wild and the paint seems to have destroyed the horses. If I can get that paint of the horses I think I might save them.

The can used was Dupli-color from Motip in their platinum range, satinmat black ral 9005.

Hope anyone has an idea.

Not familiar with the paint brand but try a strong kitchen cleaner like Fairy Power Spray.

There are threads about stripping minis on here somewhere which will list all the ones like Simple Green and Dettol disinfectant, just make sure its one that has proven not to melt plastics.

Yup, Fairy Power Spray should work.

Just don't bother with spraying the minis, just pour some of the stuff into a glass jar and leave the minis in there. With metal minis I just let them sit in the stuff over night, but you could always take a look after a couple of hours - I'm pretty sure it won't melt the plastic or anything, but better safe than...

Good luck

You can try it by using brake fluid. It dissolves almost anything except for the plastic. Soak the minis in the fluid for a few hours, then brush the colour off with an old toothbrush.

I must stress that this is by far the most unhealthy method of stripping miniatures though. Always do it outside and wear gloves!
Plus, as gamer Mac alraedy said, always test it on a leftover piece before immersing the whole regiment...
