ironclad victorians as old west

some ironclad victorians im going to use for old west, a little chunky, but not too bad a fit with artizan, the guy in the top hat is a gentleman gunfighter, the man with the bag his man servent, the bottom 2 are federal agents!

I still see them as IC intended but that doesnt mean they do not suit the old west too.  Cracking paint jobs whatever continent they reside in.

Perhaps they need typically crazy yankee spelling of their names?  Ohms & Whatson?

I've always been a little on the fence with buying Ironclad minis. They look great I'm just too damn picky about scale. I dont suppose you would be kind enough to put up a quick comparison with these next to Foundry & Artizan Old West?

I second goon's request if you'd be so kind. This is the first time I've seen the ironclad figures well-painted, and I have to say the figures look much better than they do on their website. Tempted, but scale is the killer, especially as most of my Victorian models are old Foundry Victoriana!

They are rather nice, aren't they.

Scale is a problem for me, too. I have lots of Artizan, which (for me) set a benchmark. I also have a fair few Black Scorpion minis - which I never use! They're lovely but far too big. These, I fear, would fall into the same category.

A shame. Our hobby could do with a little standardisation, I feel.

It's a question of personal aesthetics, really. Some like all their figures to be the same height and "build" - others are happy with variations.

Neither is right or wrong.

Personally I like conformity in large regular units but variation in irregulars and skirmish forces. I like the Black Scorpions and the Ironclad  and am happy to use them amongst all the others in the pic 

Mind you, the old Foundry figure next to Sherlock is a little small, but he's probably 5 ft 3 inches, fed on a poor diet to Holmes' 6 ft plus, fed on the best London can provide. That's my excuse anyway

That orignal Foundry figure does look tiny doesn't he in comparison to the others which I think all blend very well. Amazing how ten years or so can cause such scale creep!

Good to see you have painted up the Presidial trooper too, look how seemlessly he fits with the Artizan figure

I used to think how big those Foundry's were, after years of 15mm 

When I finally get around to buying some of your Mexican Infantry I'll be interested to see how they fit in the Artizans ......
