SciFi Trooper Outpost 28mm WIP
« on: June 20, 2011, 11:02:48 PM »
Cobbled from surplus warehouse junk, here is the base of operations board for my not-colonial troopers. The raised station is topped by a rotating command observatory, and a small combat platform. To the right side is a dropship port, and on the left is a fusion reactor (accessed via crawl tube). Beneath the station is "garage" space for maintenance and military robots/vehicles. Behind the base is an atmosphere scrubber and waste recycling silo (intake vents on rooftop). The front panel the red ramp points toward hasn't had the main airlock attached yet.

Since this (purely primed) planet-side base doesn't belong to the blue blazoned space marines, it will likely have a tan/earth paint job.

Nice job. It's really nice to see the nice things folks can put together with various bits and pieces of junk.

Excellent so far! I can't wait to see it painted up.
All that is missing is a defense turret or two.

Thanks

Not being a sculptor, I'm going to have to cough up for some sci-fi gun turrets and vehicles. I'm prepping a shopping list at Antenocitis, because of the free int. postage offer and range of scenery pieces. Might see some items at the convention this week too.
Next up - airlock door, inset floor, and security lights made from drawer knobs  :)

Looking good, nnow get some paint on it. lol
Only thing I would say is that the position of the landing pad is a little awkward. It would surely make more sense to have it on top of the structure, or a little distance away, incase of 'minor parking incidents'.

Good looking. The mecha is from what source? I seem to have seen it before, but don't know where.

One big reason for starting a space troop was that I still had some 1/200 Macross Destroid toys from years ago. The rocket pod armed guy was called the Phalanx. I had to glue some round pins to make the 7x missile warheads though. The dropship is a common GI JOE toy, first seen repainted on Ironworker's blog. I'm improving its "spacecraft" look with rocket engine bells.
