Been watching various ebay auctions etc for ships on playmobil and they seem to be going for around the £25 mark recently
the "red corsair" is £30 average cheapest was £27.

So i ordered this direct from playmobil for £19.99


So when it arrives i shall use this as a little wip with a few updates as i progress.

Very interested in the results. I was thinking the same thing, but always abandoned the idea due to the fact that playmobil figures are somewhat 7cm tall and I was not sure how that would look with 28mm minis.

the sides are a little high and even though the deck has the planks scored through it , i need to raise the deck so will loose that


i plan on doing away with the mast and fitting my own mast and making a cabin section for it as well, theres a few little bit here and there which i need to modify but overall i am over the moon with it..
Contemplating on water lining it, think it will look more impressive. I can see a few long weeks ahead of me..

I used to have one of those. Wasn't blue but brown. I think the remains of the hull are somewhere...

If you don't waterline the hull, then you could use it alongside some of the other Playmobil ships and the Mega Blocks Stormstalker or Predator, all of which are not waterlined. The Mega Bloks Pirates of the Carribean ships are waterlined, but they look fine alongside the Playmobil ships.

I would suggest using the masts that came with the model. The gap on the back of the mast is a bit unsightly, but that could be filled in with plaster or putty or could be taped over, and then the whole mast could be painted and weathered if you prefer. The masts and yards and other bits fit together so well, and are so useful, that I would be loath to replace them with new masts and other bits. That seems like too much work to me. The effort could go into building other bits.

Yup lose the masts, they look rubbish, go for wooden dowel that'll set you up a treat.

I must say, I've been disappointed by Playmobile items I've bought in the past, but that looks a corker. Well done, indeed!

Being of VSF persuasion, I'm visualizing an aeronef rather than a cut to water line, but I will point out that a styrofoam (sorry, can't recall Brit for EPF) 'cradle' made to look like sea foam can allow a table top ship's hull to remain intact.

Edit: Of course, replace the mast, dowel, plastic rod, a damn pencil would be an improvement, and we're sure you can do better. But, don't 'lose' the current mast. That goes to the bitz box; too damn useful, for sure!

Thanks for the tips guys... I will be losing the mast to make 2 masts from dowel. Not much done so far just a card mock up of where new decking will be, I am looking for a plasticard supplier went shopping all day and only came back with stuff for the missus..

What is the length, and beam of the hull, and how high is the side of the vessel above the table, if it hasn't been waterlined?
