My Pulp Lighthouse
« on: 28 July 2011, 11:49:46 PM »
The lighthouse was a broken toy (for ages 3 to 6) I bought for $1.00 at the swap meet.  I sanded off the oversized door embossed on the front and built a new entrance.  I had to make a number of other repairs, added some bushes made from Milliput to hid a new problem areas and painted as you see it.  The island base is a Lemax piece I got cheap at the Michael's after-Halloween sale.  The unpainted figure is a Copplestone 28mm added to allow you to see the scale.

A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

That's a lot of good stuff you posting '15mm'. You just need to get your figures painted now, but that'll be easy compared to your terrain!

Grimm's right - perfect for an Innsmouth game, along with all the rest of your water vehicles. Spectacular stuff!

gamer Mac, I'm very lucky to leave where I do both in terms of the weather and my hobby.  I live southern California in the small city of Huntington Beach which places me about 15 minutes from Arnie's Trains, 25 minutes by Fwy from The War House Hobbie Shop, and 25 minutes the other direction from Brookhurst Hobbies.  These are all wonderful places, but in addition I am bless with wonderful swap meets held each Saturday and Sunday in the Golden West Community College parking lot.  The swap meets are big affairs and best of all the stalls are filled with people selling their unwanted junk which is to say treasure for me.

You bastard... I have had plans for a lighthouse for some time now, aiming to bowl everyone over with its amazingness. Here you go and find this ready made thing of pure cool. Fort a dollar! I am heartbroken...

Thank you for the generous comments about the lighthouse.  It was one of my first efforts at repairing and modifying a broken toy found at the swap meet and making compatible with and for 28mm Pulp.  It was a lot of fun and has led me to many new projects as you can see from my postings.  As you can see from the tugboat I posted, I get things from places other than the swap meet, but the beauty of the swap meet is you never know what you'll find in the next seller's booth.  It's an adventure in itself.  Thanks again for the kind words.  They mean a lot coming from the talented people on this forum.  Richard

That lighthouse - and the warehouse in your other thread - are great conversion jobs!

I'm thinking I might have to go to California instead! ;) ;)

If you can find stuff like that there I'm on the first plane after I win the lotto!  :D
